Henry Doggrell │ GENERAL COUNSEL

Henry Doggrell is General Counsel and a team member of Union Main.

Mr. Doggrell has been in the private and public practice of law for more than 40 years, during which he has served as a corporate and securities law practice group leader for a large private law firm and, thereafter, as General Counsel for two public companies and a member of their respective senior management groups. Mr. Doggrell was a partner and practice group leader for the Corporate and Securities group of the Baker Donelson law firm in Memphis, Tennessee, responsible for over 80 attorneys and staff in the firm’s offices in Tennessee and Washington, DC. While at Baker Donelson, Mr. Doggrell represented the senior management group of Buckeye Cellulose (aka, Buckeye Technologies) in acquiring two large cellulose manufacturing facilities and sales force from Proctor & Gamble, and later, helped take the company public. He was retained as the company’s first General Counsel and became Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs for the company, in charge of its national and international business acquisitions and intellectual property licensing.

In 2001, Mr. Doggrell joined GTx, Inc., a then private biotechnology company, as its General Counsel and helped lead its efforts in becoming a NASDAQ public company in early 2004. Mr. Doggrell served as GTx’s Vice President, Chief Legal Officer until July 2019, when the company was merged with another biotechnology firm.

Mr. Doggrell has a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia and a J.D. of Law from Vanderbilt University. Throughout his career he has been active in numerous civic functions, including serving as a Board Member and Chair of the Tennessee Nature Conservancy, Memphis College of Art and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
